The North Central Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Program and their Farmer Rancher Grant Program provided support for this website and educational information about orchard establishment and silvopasture
The USDA Environmental Quality Incentives Program provided cost share for sheep fencing, water, forage systems, and invasive species removal. They also provided incentive payments for sustainable forestry.
We've partnered with Michigan Department of Natural Resources and their Hunter Access Program to enhance forest health while providing hunting opportunities for new and youth hunters. The partnership helps reduce the damage deer cause in the orchard and gives people an opportunity to hunt at Ox Heights.
Midwest Nut Producers Council (MNPC) enhances the region's commercial nut industry through education, research, and promotion of nuts and the tree species and varieties that bear nuts. Abby currently is the President of MNPC. Our orchard was established using Michigan State University and MNPC guidance.
Knaebe's was the first specialty orchard on Moltke Ridge and was recently ranked the 5th best apple orchard in the Country by USA Today. Knaebe's supported Ox Heights by providing refrigeration and promoting our nuts and peaches at their orchard.

Neighbor Scott has helped in many ways including planting forage crops, installing underground waterlines, forwarding logs, and picking nuts. Check out the Moltke Maize Maze October 2025 for a ton of family fun and to meet Scott.
Neighbor Roger planted ~60 Chinese chestnut trees about 35 years ago at his farm in Hawks. The Chinese chestnuts we sell are sourced from Rogers Farm near Hawks.
