Our European chestnuts are of the highest quality because they are grafted cultivars well known around the world for their size, texture, and flavor. Specifically, our select nuts are from Marigoule, Marsol, Precoce Migoule, and Bouche de Betizac-grafted trees. In addition to enjoying by themselves, these are great nuts for your culinary needs because of their large size!
Expect about 25 to 30 nuts per lb.
All nuts are hand harvested, cleaned, and sorted. Your nuts will not look dull from mechanical harvesting nor be damaged by heavy machinery. Expect shipment in Late October or November 2025 once they have fully sweetened in our cooler.
Choose a box of 2.5 lbs or 5 lbs of fresh Chinese chestnuts from our 2025 harvest. These Chinese chestnuts were grown from seed and are remarkably sweet and easy to roast and peel. Perfect for snacking! Expect 75-85 nuts per lb.

At North Star Chestnuts we have many different grafted European x Japanese cultivars. If you would like to grow trees or even eat nuts from specific cultivars, this is your opportunity to purchase nuts collected from specific cultivars.
We will ship these nuts through the month of October, once gathered, to assure that any drying is minimal and to promote good germination in the spring. Proper storage and stratification on your part is equally important for good spring growth! Check out our Blog on how we stratify our chestnuts.
